St Vincent De Paul

The Mission of the St Vincent de Paul Society is a lay Catholic organisation that aspires to live the gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice, hope and joy, and by working to shape a more just and compassionate society.

The Society's Vision is to aspire to be recognised as a caring Catholic charity offering “a hand up” to people in need. We do this by respecting their dignity, sharing our hope, and encouraging them to take control of their own destiny.

The St Francis of Assisi Maida Vale Conference, individually and together as members offer and use their gifts to:

  • Support, walk alongside and empower those who experience disadvantage and injustice, so that they may fulfill their human potential, be witnesses to the restoration of their personal dignity and help in the alleviation of hardship and suffering;
  • Provide practical assistance to address the immediate needs of those we serve;
  • Bring them unconditional love, serving without discrimination;
  • Respect other faith beliefs at all times; and
  • Work with other organizations to help the Society's mission.

The members also visit those in need at their homes and provide assistance with the following:

  • Non Perishable food
  • Clothing
  • Furniture
  • Referral to financial counsellors
  • Advocacy with utility agencies
  • Advocacy with other agencies.
